At first I was excited to do the comic contest but I became resentful of it and very very sad so I didn’t do anything related to it. Idk why I’m telling you this but you’re pretty much the only person I can confide a little. I draw because I enjoy it, so I rather not pressure myself or put myself down.

drawing to satisfy yourself should be your primary goal in any case! when i was in school i had an art teacher who stressed the importance of the five purposes of art (ceremonial, expression, narrative, functional, persuasive) and that the most important of these was ‘expression’ or self-fulfillment and satisfaction. if this isn’t present in the processes of doing art, people will be able to tell.

artists create art to satisfy a need, whether its to get a feeling out, relieve stress, please another person or to feed yourself and my teacher stressed upon me the importance that doing it for yourself should be the number one goal.

ive entered plenty of art contests myself and while i never really won any of them, i was always proud of the work i did because i put a lot of care into it, and i was happy with how it turned out, at the time. if you dont want to enter a contest, for whatever reason, that’s perfectly valid. you do art for YOU. and if anyone else likes it? that’s simply a bonus.

Marisol Flores is a girl with a curse. A bizarre and incredibly powerful monster has taken a liking to her, and is now obsessed with kidnapping her. Every so often it appears, takes over the Flores household, and holds her hostage in the attic. To be frank, it’s all gotten a little old.

Alejandra de Rosa is the girl with a cure. At the very least, she’s a neophyte witch who has the power and knowledge to fend off weird beasts and save pretty damsels.  She’s served as assistant for years to her grandmother, a powerful witch who has walked these halls many times before, driving the monster back and saving Marisol. For the first time, Alex will be doing this on her own.

It’s a routine job… so why do things feel a little more dire than usual today?

US LOVELY CORPSES is a short surreal-horror-romance visual novel about helping a friend. Go through the house, cut the roses, and save the girl. Only, just remember: the monster knows you’re here. There will be puzzles that you can only solve with hints from the roses, so try to keep an open ear.

But keep in mind you may not want to hear everything these flowers have to say.
