I’m going to start a podcast focusing on individual classpects once I have a dental procedure on Friday. Of course the first episodes will be about Homestuck and Sburb in general. I hope you don’t mind if I state some of your ideas on it. I’ll recommend your videos in it quite frequently I imagine. I did the math and for every classpect, if I upload once a week it’ll take just over 3 Years. It’s gonna be fun.

This might be of interest to anyone interested in that! And yeah its no problem. I don’t really view any of this stuff as “my ideas” because I don’t see myself as coming up with it. I’m just doing my best to talk about what I see in Homestuck and Hiveswap, so if there’s any truth to my analysis, the credit obviously goes to Hussie, not me.

And my whole reason for doing so is that I want new conversation in the fandom, so of course I’m delighted if anyone is talking about it other than me. So go for it!!!

May I ask if you will do individual videos and/or essays on each class or class pair? A lot of what you are saying coincides with my own interpretation of the comic and you helped me realize I’m a maid. Really what I’m asking is if you will do a more in depth analysis of each class in their own individual videos or series of essays at some point?

That’s basically the purpose that videos on particular characters would serve. So I’ll talk about seers in more depth as I talk about Rose, knights with Dave, so on and so forth. I’m also planning to do classpect videos on non-WP characters eventually, so that’d be closer to what you’re asking about, probably.

Talking about classpects can already get pretty abstract, so doing so without any sort of character analysis focus feels like it’d be difficult, especially in terms of making it engaging YouTube ways.

futuredeadbranches:

you know what? i fuckin love every kind of dirkjake content. Pre-sburb content where they meet and slowly get to know each other and dirk is pining and they’re so alone so they try to make up for each other’s presence with voice, video calls and gifts from the future. In-game content where it’s definitely not going well and their personalities clash but they’re still trying to make it work, they both want it to work so they stupidly try to ignore their problems and push them away. Post-canon content where its like starting over, they try to bond again, to understand each other’s boundaries and are so so scared at first of overstepping them. And then, where they finally get rid of the awkwardness and a bit of the fear and they are kings and live together and where with every day their trust and bond is deeper, better, where everything seems finally fine and not everything is perfect but at least its warm and safe and home.

Are you still going to follow the HSE outline, or are you just gonna cherry pick from it?

No, I’m still following the outline! It’s already faced adjustments, and will definitely be adjusted more as things continue, but the core game plan is unchanged.

Hiveswap Lore is an additional series, not a replacement or anything. I might cover things in Hiveswap Lore that I wouldn’t get to in Homestuck Explained until much later in some cases–the red/green cherub spiral and the existence of Universe C or the nature of Cherubs, for example.

But when I cover those things, it’ll be because it’s relevant *to Hiveswap*, and the focus will be on its relevance to the games. So even then I’ll have reason to cover similar subject matter as it relates to Homestuck’s self-contained narrative.

It’s a weird set up, I suppose, but that was pretty much inevitable given the inherent weirdness of Homestuck and Hiveswap as properties.

Here’s to the start of a new series! Hiveswap Lore will run concurrently  with Homestuck: Explained, and will be aimed at covering various parts  of Hiveswap’s deep story that you might not glean from one or two playthroughs.

We start by covering Xefros Tritoh, as we explore how he  affects others, and how the roles forced onto him by Alternian society affects his state of mind!

Full disclosure: This is a reading I’ve developed through my own research, so I could well be getting some things wrong! If anything I say here is disproven, I’ll definitely raise the subject again in future videos.
We’ll be talking about Xefros’ (and others) Classpects again as more Acts come out regardless.

Strong Female Characters from “Hark, A Vagrant” by Kate Beaton http://www.harkavagrant.com/index.php…

I noticed your tags re: Dave Strider and Tidus haha. Do you have a lot of connections to other works of media that you just don’t have time/effort to fully flesh out and share? If so, that’s something to look forward to in the far future. Or even considering those ideas as research prompts for anyone interested…now MY mind is turning lol. Hope you’re doing well, and I’m excited for the next thought pieces you have coming up!

its like, literally endless? Homestuck never stops from keep going deeper. I cannot BELIEVE most of this fandom doesn’t know Caliborn’s arc is in many ways a literal expy of Bastian’s from The Neverending Story. I have to dig through 10 seasons of Stargate to cover all the dizzying implications of the cherub portal’s existence soon. theres so much all the time forever

DAVE STRIDER AND TIDUS ARE THE SAME FUCKING PERSON (Part 1)

unofficial-hs-dialogue:

Well, not literally the same person. That’d be stupid. But Dave Strider, from Homestuck, and Tidus, from Final Fantasy X, share a surprisingly high number of similarities. Their weapon progression, their abilities, a few of their in-story actions, and most importantly, some of the themes their characters tie heavily into, are far more closely related than one might think at first glance. One might ask “Just how high did you even have to be to think this shit up? After all, Homestuck and Final Fantasy are worlds apart in terms of story, dialogue, characters, and basically everything!”

My answer to that little query is that I must’ve been pretty god damn high. But this little exercise gave me a fairly interesting outlook on both Tidus and Dave as characters, and hopefully you’ll enjoy it in a similar fashion. Obviously there will be casual spoilers for Final Fantasy X in this post, so I’ll hide the rest of this under the break.

Let’s begin, shall we?
