yesterday my dad and i were stuck indoors because of the weather and i said “we’re homestuck” and he looked at me, like he knew this was some meme shit, he knew the score, but he couldn’t place it. he just kept looking at me suspiciously, knowingly, warily. then he carefully said, “yes.”
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE AND ALSO!!! even though the fandom isn’t as big as it used to be, there are still TONS of people out there who love it, even if they don’t post about it constantly. give it a chance, it’s really fun and it has so much history to it, and the community is so supportive, at least in my experience.
funnily enough, the homestuck fandom is one of the least drama filled ones I’ve been in, which says alot considering how big it is / was.

It’s also worth noting that Hiveswap is gonna come out sometime soon, and it’s the first project Toby Fox has been involved in since Undertale–to say nothing of such a big content release related to Homestuck.
So the fandom could be looking at a revival real soon, is what I’m saying. This might actually be the perfect time to catch up, and even if that’s not the case, Homestuck and Hiveswap will be well worth it :B
So I’ve been gone for a while, mostly because work has been pretty intense for quite some time, but I think I’m ready to get back into posting stuff on a regular(ish) basis. For now though all I have are warm up sketches that I’ve compiled from the past few months…most of which are fan art. First batch are from Revolutionary Girl Utena.
I discovered this show almost two years ago and I have never been so deeply captivated and utterly blown away by any TV series, animated or otherwise. All of Kunihiko Ikuhara’s work is really amazing and definitely worth a watch, but Utena is, in my opinion, truly a masterpiece.
Also the sketches Utena and Anthy working out together were inspired by this post (x)
It def doesn’t match Aspect consistently–Rose’s shoes are breath blue, for example. Vriska’s boots are red, too.
I don’t really think there’s a consistent pattern to the shoes or anything tbh i just think its a cute lil thing. It MIGHT be the case with dirkjake and you could make an argument for (Vriska) and (Terezi) sharing an enjoyment of red shoes leading them to a red quadrant with one another, too–since Terezi taking Jade’s shoes has so much focus and (Vriska) also wears red boots–but that’s the extent of my thoughts on the matter.
But like that doesn’t mean that the True Mark of a Canon OTP is matching shoes or w.e, i just dont think its that big a deal. The comic would have drawn attention to it somehow if we were meant to read into it, because Homestuck is actually pretty good about cluing the reader into how it wants to be read imo
That said, “shoeshipping” used to be really common (usually used to prove johnrose and davejade would be canon) and there is not a single doubt in my mind that hussie heard of that and a grinch-level smile slid onto his face as he made plans for dirk and jake
Yeah that rationale is more or less exactly why I think it makes sense Dirk and Jake might be exceptions. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vriska and Terezi’s red boot thing was similar
