I already have through a bunch of Class lenses. I have some stuff to say about them as a group but it’s probably best saved for when we get there on Homestuck:Explained, or at least until after the epilogue which I’m guessing will happen considerably before then, since its prob gonna happen this year or next

I haven’t really been convinced by it. There’s no archetype connecting the two, and most maid/heir models typically make maid passive and heir active, where I think canon suggests the opposite.
I found that assertion really interesting because the parallel he mentions is definitely there, even if it’s not necessarily the main thing about the classes. Mostly it boils down to an observed trend of Maids losing parts of themselves and being pressed into service by an outside force, be it the voices of ancestors, the will of the Condesce, or more vague societal pressures. Coupled with the fact that John (and to a lesser extent Equius) kind of has a lot of his power given to him in the form of an apparent outside force, and it’s not a hard conclusion to reach, doubly so with the immediate emotional associations of the words “Maid” and “Heir”. That I don’t agree with this conclusion mostly just boils down to, like, having a lot of other evidence pointing in other directions, like the fact that each class pair seems to share an overt archetype linking them, and there isn’t really such a one for Maid and Heir.

its so fitting that the friendsim alleged to delve into canonical troll biology stuff is the one that ended up cursed, tbh

folykl was the one that went through a lot of revision because she was being teamed up with another troll. at first i really pushed for this design to be used in the background
a blind troll child who had to rely on its lusus to move around safely, but the writing team liked the idea and wanted to repurpose the design to a grubby gremlin like troll to leech off of another one so we worked on redesigning it
since the original design was riding a pillbug i wanted to keep some of the isopod look on the troll. a lot of these weren’t very successful!
we did a bit more design and i think it was adrienne and angela who were able to nail down the final design – they finalized all of the designs so its thanks to them that we have all the trolls we know and love today!
