Those are her victims in the background
see here for why i currently think he’s a thief, but its worth mentioning i’m not entirely sure if thats roleplay–he didnt exactly choose to have his house blown up, after all. his actual class could be something else,
that said, i didnt pick up on any of the signifiers i usually look for from prophet classes in him. not saying that means he isn’t a seer–i could always be full of shit about everything, or the friendsim might not be super indicative of classpect or what diemen is like in hiveswap proper.
but assuming the friendsim does clue us into the characters’ classpects, and that diemen in the friendsim is basically analogous to diemen in hiveswap, i dont currently see it.
Don’t know for sure, but he feels an awful lot like a thief:
-He’s off the grid, so there’s some outlaw imagery to him.
-A lot of uses of the word “take” in his text.
-hes lost friends due to stealing hot dogs
-his epiphany involves realizing he’s stealing hotdogs as a coping mechanism, and what he actually wants is something else.
The real treasure he references is, ofc, friendship. And if they end happily, thieves quests always seem to involve realizing that no matter how much they steal, friendship and love were the real treasure they wanted all along.
See: Meenah deciding she doesn’t want the ring of life.
(Vriska) growing closer to Meenah, and then meeting (terezi). Etc.
Seemed p fitting to me that as soon as diemen faced this part of himself, his wish was granted and you find your way to meat heaven. That auryn rule rearing it’s head again.
PS: While hotdogs aren’t Hope-related per se, the dick jokes surrounding them sure are. i love homestuck. i love diemen
Maybe. But there’s also juggalo dude to consider, and since they’re both likely antagonists I almost suspect their aspects are being deliberately obscured to us, and figuring them out will serve as a puzzle of sorts in Hiveswap.
Doesn’t mean they couldn’t be void, ofc. Just that if aspect diagnosing is going to be a puzzle solving mechanic, i’d prefer not to assume it necessarily involves void.

Daily reminder that Dirk Strider spent 16 years of his life isolated in an apartment building with no other living creatures to interact with, only remaining sane through delving through the archives of the dead internet and talking to his three friends through a glitch in Paradox Space.
Daily reminder that Dirk Strider made a physical representation of his brain at 13 years old just to have someone to talk to, only to have the sentient AI he created echo back his worst fears for three years, driving him deeper into his isolation.
Daily reminder that Dirk Strider still managed to be one of the most human of the kids, fighting for his best friends and feeling guilty for years that he couldn’t give Roxy a relationship with the only human being left alive because he couldn’t betray himself and deny his lack of attraction to women, even if it would doom their species.
Daily reminder that Dirk Strider broke up with Jake English because of a mutual lack of understanding in how to communicate – the two dealt with their isolation in opposite ways and he couldn’t bear feeling like a drain on his best friend, no matter how much he loved him.
Daily reminder that Dirk Strider has to live with the knowledge that his brother was abused for years by some iteration of him, and he can never truly make right on that because the actions were not his own.
Daily reminder that Dirk Strider is one of the most deeply broken Homestuck characters and to treat him as a one-dimensional villain/bully is to do a disservice to his incredibly poignant writing. There is so much to be said about a character that is shown to be cruel and abusive in one circumstance ACTIVELY CHOOSING to fight whatever part of him is predisposed to be that way, and sacrificing himself not one but twice for the greater good.
End the Dirk Strider hate. He deserves more.
idont mind at all, i love talkin bout dirkjake. i will mention ive written like 10~ essays on dirkjake specifically, so you might wanna check those out if you more or less want my perspective on the whole ship
