I want so hard to think and believe gamzee is just a manipulated pawn and unfortunate casualty because he’s my favorite character beside dave, and I want to believe there is some good in him

hey fwiw this post is somewhat outdated. haven’t had time to revisit it but i have been swayed somewhat by friends and am a little more inclined to think there’s a redemption narrative for gamzee yet.

i still stand by pretty much everything in that essay, i just became aware of some more details that tip the scales for me a bit. mainly to do with caliborn. i’m not sure, but i’m biding my time until the epilogue to really make up my mind about the gamzee deal for good.

if there is anything to a more sympathetic view for him, i’m inclined to think the epilogue will surprise us about him. we’ll find out together, i guess!

he was obviously referring to the theme park

if homestuck rebrands itself as an accessible anime or web cartoon i literally dont think a theme park would be out of the question in the far future, so i kinda took that half-seriously. homestucks’s ideas have serious appeal to the anime/gamer crowd, its the accessibility that just isnt there. if its not the comic but is directly related to the story, the epilogue could change that.

maybe.

thoughts like this are why i’m not too worried about homestuck/hiveswaps’ future in the long term, despite recent goings on. i’m not sure hussie’s played his best card yet, and if he has an ace i can see the fandom really coming back. seems like the kind of thing that would warrant polishing the site for a sudden onrush of new readers, at least?

of course i’m not saying its definitely an anime, or that it even is anything that good even. i could be totally full of shit. but its been rather sad times for the homestuck fandom so i guess i’m more inclined to run my trap and try to stoke some hope.

i dont talk about it much but a homestuck anime is one of the few things weird and unexpected enough i can imagine when i wonder what hussie meant when he said he wanted to do something “unexpected” and “outside the confines of the comic” with VIZ media.

i’ve said it before: homestuck’s story is not over. i think its pretty likely the epilogue at least will contain major elements of dirkjake and vrisrezi–probably dirkjake, definitely vrisrezi–and i am not convinced we’ll never see these characters again past that.

i don’t like to speculate this “wildly” about homestuck’s events, i just also don’t consider the somewhat cynical view that the adventure is well and truly “over” to be fact. seems to me its all speculation.

my opinion is that he’s a thief of blood, probably being forced into roleplaying a Knight (by way of butlering) to some extent, and ghosting “Breath” either as a result of that stress, the influence of the Breath-coded Bronze caste, or both.

so Thief of Blood->Knight of Breath, with the latter being unhealthy behavior he’s forced into. because of that influence, he’s taken at least one notable action that comes off like a Thief of Breath and Blood, simultaneously.

That would be the theft of Xefros’ hoverboard. Dammek takes Xefros’ stuff because Xefros lets him, and Xefros lets him either because they’re moirails or because of Xefros’ feelings for him. Either way, Dammek is stealing through the strength of their relationship–stealing through Blood.

But the hoverboard itself is a distinctly Breath item. It flies, it allows for motion and freedom, it advances the plot, and the laser it emits is distinctly Breath blue. Which means Dammek is stealing Breath.

Blood is how he actually achieves the theft–fitting, since it’s his natural strength. But Breath is what he’s choosing to steal, and imo that speaks to Dammek’s likely unhealthy state of mind and skewed priorities/self-image.

Do you have the new VIZ edition of Homestuck ACTs 1&2? They have some commentary from Hussie for each page. Including details he thought would’ve been relevant like on page 149. It has all sorts of snippets like that. Plus its a good copy despite missing some details like retcons edits in places.

i don’t have these editions yet, hopefully ill be able to afford em soon! I do have access to the commentaries for the original 3 volumes–it’s where i found that quote about grandpa and a bunch of other cool stuff.

i’m pretty excited to get the VIZ editions though, specially since my original editions are stuck where i can’t get to them!

Will you ever do a video with you explaining your headcanons on certain things like voices, music characters would listen to, etc. after your main series is done?

Maybe? I don’t really have a ton of headcanons for stuff like voices or body types or whatnot. I tend to regard most concepts equally and just kind of go “oh huh neat” at all the fandoms’ varied and interesting depictions.

I wouldn’t mind answering trivia, I’m just not sure I have anything in particular to say for a lot of stuff.

hi! i just saw the post you reblogged about persona 4 and i have a quick question: i started playing p4g after finishing and loving p5 but like. while there were moments in p5 that made me uncomfortable or roll my eyes p4 is just… so awful i’m MISERABLE playing it. but everyone says it’s the best game in the series and the others just don’t compare. is that true or was i tricked by a load of p4 fans and i can skip it and play 3 or somethig?

A lot of people (myself included) have a deep well of affection for p4 and its characters especially. Like if asked I probably would say p4 is the best because it was the game that most viscerally and positively impacted me.

The thing is I played p4 as a young teen, got about ¾ths of the way through, and then never finished it? Which as it turns out was IDEAL because it’s in the third act that the game becomes like 9000000 times more anime and starts going out of its way to shit all over the characters you love.

So idk, it’s not necessarily so much p4 fans tricking you as it is atlus tricking us all with it’s slimy queerbaiting bullshit.

If you got every party member then I’m going to say the experience has peaked and you should get out while you can, I’m sure there’s corners of the fandom that do better by the characters than the game will if you’re still hungry for them.

If you want to play p3 you’re in luck in the sense that the psp version is the only game in the series to A) let you play as a girl and B) let you be canon gays with the cute ladybot. So yeah I’d say skip to that.

The other option is to play p2 which is the only persona game with a story actually worth a damn and actual, not-bullshit LGBT rep–but the gameplay on that one is a rough downgrade so I’d prob recommend a let’s play. Also the story is sad and brutal and will fuck you up, do recommend.
