i found your blog recently, and i have to say it made dirk my favorite character in home stuck. i normally have a hard time finding characters i like and may relate to, so reading all you had for dirk made him my favorite and changed my opinion on him. i had previously been viewing him as much more cold and distant then he actually is

i gained 3 million power levels reading this.

this. this is what i’m alive. this is what i’m fighting for

soon EVERYONE will love Dirk Strider!!!!! EVERYONE ON EARTH, EVER!!!! EVEN PEOPLE IN THE PAST.

SUCH IS THE EXTENT OF MY CONVICTION. SUCH IS THE CAUSE I CHOOSE TO FIGHT FOR.

Any baseless headcanons?

Through virtue of sheer probability, probably lots? I’m bound to be wrong about some stuff, and figuring out whether my guesses are grounded or baseless is part of the fun.

Do I have headcanons that are just for fun, because I find them appealing, with absolutely no aims to speculate with regards to how they fit in canon? Sure.
I prefer to keep them to myself more often than not, though. Not cause there’s anything wrong with sharing them–I just keep really busy talking about canon stuff. And it’d be likely to make things more confusing.

But that begs the question, are you a furry rD

oh yes, extremely. i’ve been quite open about this

this entire online endeavor on my part is just a long ploy to build enough fandom clout to influence the fandom such that, through whatever combination of fraymotifs are necessary to justify it, furry tf is canonically established as an easily accessible and popular service on Earth C.

this will create a vibrant and canonical demographic of literal furries on the planet, probably leading to the founding of the fifth and final Furry Kingdom. I’m sure we can all agree this is the only point at which Earth C can be declared a true utopia.

I once remember reading a theory that horses are linked with Void (Equius and his weird musclebeast obsession, Mom Lalonde giving Rose Maplehoof which confounded her, etc). What do you think of that theory?

i think the point at which i feel confident i’ve cracked the riddle behind the god damn horses i will finally feel a shallow imitation of true peace

That said I already link Void to physical strength/the world of the physical in general and horses are pretty much all about being STRONG in homestucks lore, so I’m inclined to agree.

I’m looking at the God Tier color palettes, and a thought just hit me – What about a link of Doom and Hope? It sounds dumb, but I can justify it – Doom can mean a general pessimism, or even just falling foul on circumstance, Hope being near the opposite, the name suggesting as much? IMO, a Doom player would see things for the worst, possibly giving up, whereas a Hope player would say “We can get through this!” I mean, I’m just going by colors, but that uproots literally anything that’s been set?

It’s the [Hope <-> Doom] Anon, again !! //// The other
pairings would be like this, based on colors: [Space <-> Time],
[Light <-> Breath], [Rage <-> Blood], [Life <-> Void]
and [Mind <-> Heart]

I don’t disagree with the links drawn because I think all the Aspects are interrelated to some extent, but the homestuck extended zodiac already provided canonical confirmation that Hope/Rage and Life/Doom were the “complementary Aspects”, so the actual argument seems rather moot to me.

I think we’re far past the point of debating what the pairs actually are, but that doesn’t mean we can’t draw links between non-paired Aspects, if that makes sense.

You’ve written before about the unhealthy, toxic dynamic that makes up Jake, Dirk, and Hal, and how for all intents and purposes it was essentially caused by the creation of hal himself – hal was miserable and isolated, so he acted controlling and toxic towards the Alpha kids, which caused them to treat him worse, etc. etc. This may not be your type of thing, and if so feel free to tell me, but what do you think the Alpha kids (and the dynamics thereof) would be like if hal was never created?

probably healthier overall (but still not healthy–all the Alphas had roles to play in hurting each other, as much as they cared), right up until they were all suddenly dead, since Hal is the only reason they made it through [S] Unite Synchronize.

I do find it kind of hard to get into these kinds of questions though. They’re not bad or uninteresting or anything, it’s just that the only answer my brain can really come up with is that they wouldn’t exist. Hal is a necessary component of the time loop that creates LE, and so the trolls and betas and alphas and everyone.

That’s the fundamental nature of LE’s evil and the core conflict that informs everything about Homestuck’s narrative, so I find it really hard to think around it, personally.

Is your blog like @homestuckexamination? Can I ask any doubts concerning Homestuck and Hiveswap?

you can and i’ll be happy to answer if possible, but I have way too many asks to answer them all, and i devote the bulk of my fandom energy to making videos nowadays. I am gonna be doing videos rounding up a lot of asks/comments people send me in the future, so i might end up answering questions through there too.

tl;dr yeah i’m happy to help if i can! but i can’t promise i’ll always answer.

yo im rereadin homestuck after i dropped it a third of the way thru, absolutely confused after a blazing fast two day binge (i did not sleep)… anyway, wheres all the good meta blogs. who has the analyses u find find fascinating, controversial, or just solid a++ interpretations of this frikkin webcomic blob. i need discussion. i will also accept discourse. keep up the life-sustaining work buddyo

I’m glad you’ve joined us! 😉 Alright so, I should mention that me mentioning other people isn’t the same as me saying I agree with all their opinions. I just want to avoid confusion, because I think a big part of what makes the conversation around Homestuck so rich rn is the variety of in-depth opinions and perspectives.

https://www.youtube.com/user/thetrulyalex/videos Tex Talks is a must watch. He’s incredibly good at what he does, and changed how I see Aspects fundamentally. He’s also the person who got me to start considering Pages as Active and Knights as Passive.

@betweengenesisfrogs is an amazing writer, and helped me learn a lot about the comic’s Gnostic themes. I also like @arrghus ‘s posts on Aspects and @homestuckexamination / @wakraya ‘s general writing, especially the idea of Castes being influenced by their associated True Sign’s Aspect. And @sam-keeper ‘s articles on Homestuck remain some of the most influential writing on me personally, even years after they were written.

I also enjoy a lot of @mmmmalo , @dahniwitchoflight and @bladekindeyewear s writing. That’s probably a decent crop to get started with? The last two in particular have been around for years, and are some of the best known Homestuck “theorizers”, as it were.

Hope this helps!
