Would it be possible for you to elaborate on the Jane as the Savior of the Dreaming Dead theory you mentioned? What’s your thinking behind it?

There’s not a ton to it, just that the epilogue is probably going to give Jake time to shine if it covers the Masterpiece, and it would make sense to me if it gave the other most overlooked kid some time in the spotlight, too.

We’re probably going to see how the alpha kids will get out of the Masterpiece stage, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up in the Void where Vriska/Aradia/Sollux/Davepeta/Terezi/The Beta Kids are all likely to be, as well as the heroic remnants of the Ghost Army.

So there’s a bunch of doomed ghosts who just proved their heroism and worth around, and Jane has more or less willingly inherited a degree of responsibility for trollkind by taking over the Condesce’s company. And she can resurrect people. She’ll probably wanna help them, if the opportunity comes up!

Mostly I think this is likely not because of any particular plot beats, but because Homestuck’s themes point in that direction to me. At least, if I’m understanding the story correctly, I think it likely doesn’t believe anyone is worthy of absolute oblivion other than Caliborn.

If like, I’m thinking there’s a chance Gamzee gets revived or Arquis gets saved by Davepeta, then I definitely expect the troll ghosts to be saved, you know?

This is all ifs though, and its part of what makes waiting for the epilogue so exciting. It’s gonna tell us so much about Homestuck’s underlying philosophy wrt morality and the meaning of existence in Paradox Space, we’ll understand a lot more about what Homestuck has been Trying To Say this whole time, if that makes sense.

so uh, sorry, this is an ask abt a dumb thing i noticed once. As far as i am aware, when everyone went god tier, they all either A.) became their dreamselves and went to where ever said dreamselves were or B) were already on their dreamself life, dying as their dream self. Other than Jake. Which is weird, because his dream self was dead before they even started. and on pg 3096 TZ says something abt losing their chance bc jack blew up everything. so why is jake an outlier or is it a plot hole?

Terezi just didn’t know about god tiering through a Quest Crypt (which is also why all the trolls thought Aradia was dead for good when her robot blew up–Aradia god tiered via quest crypt, too).

God Tiering through land beds requires both selves to be living.
Quest Crypt godtiering only requires one, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s the waking or dreaming self.

Random thought: what if the verbs for change & know were actually spell (like magic spells or spelling) and read, respectively?

I’ve considered that (though I went for Speech for the know classes; speaking/talking a lot is something all the prophet classes are known for and kind of a relevant idea to being a prophet in general, no?)

but i think those more specific verbs are too constrincting, compared to the versatility of change and know. I still consider them part of each class’ toolbelt though–every class’ verb is associated with some synonyms or close kins, like:

Make: Heal, improve, fix,

Destroy: Break

Steal: Take

Serve: Give, Beat (as in beating), Help,

Command: Master

And all of the verbs are linked to either Exploit or Invite/Allow, depending on Active vs. Passive behavior.

the Casspect system is made to challenge the players into becoming their ideal selves, so wouldn’t it make sense for you extended zodiac aspect to be something you wouldn’t like or associate with because it’s meant to challenge you?

In some cases, I guess so. But I don’t really give Kanaya’s line about that that much weight, because I see the Classpects as just being descriptions of who the characters really are already. The characters are going to face challenges because there are challenges in life, and health and unhealthy ways to use their latent power.

Being kids, the characters often don’t know how to use that power in a way good for themselves or others. Learning how to use their power goes hand in hand in learning how to construct their own identities in a way that works for them.

Do you think there’s a chance of anyone dying in the epilogue?

Possibly Caliborn (There might be a worse fate in store for him, stuck in a black hole for eternity), maybe Gamzee (he might get revived), maybe Arquis (There’s a chance Davepeta could snatch his components outta LE)

I think everyone else will be fine. Maybe more than fine, if my guess is correct and Jane turns out to be the savior of the dreaming dead all along.
