Hello! First off, great Homestuck posts and discussions, furthering my enjoyment of the comic in general. In a post you said that Jake English’s being… Well, English, was a fan misunderstanding? I’ve been looking into canon references and other discussions and I am no clearer, I was wondering your reasons for thinking the fan assumption is wrong? Kind of a silly question. Anyway, keep it up

I remember that post, but I also remember a conversation that followed where I recanted the position because there wasn’t actually much explicitly debunking the position and I don’t see a need to harsh on the headcanon. British Jake is pretty neat, I like imagining it contrasting against Dirk’s affected Texan accent.

If the internet, the whole thing(Google, YouTube, Tumblr, the Dark Web, everything) had a god tier. What would it be? I say a Lord of Blood, but I really want to hear what you say

Probably can’t go with anything but a Muse of Light.

It’s essentially the Gnostic world of ideas or the Collective Unconcious made manifest physically, if you think about it. Jokes, stories, images, lies–we experience all of reality, vicariously, through this slim sheen of glass and light. The screens inform us, educate us, give us knowledge and power–the power to reach out, the power to be heard, the power to be seen.

That’s kind of what the internet is. It’s light–electricity, energy, power harnessed into a form that is able to showcase any thought any of us care to share, and give all of our eyes windows into that holds those forms.

It’s a terrifically powerful tool, one that determines and controls basically everything about the world we live in. It commands us, one could say–holds our attention even as it constantly directs us towards each other.

I’m not sure how well I’m getting across what I feel, but I think a lot about the internet, and the way it entangles us and connects us and drives us apart. Basically, I think the internet can be understood as an entity that commands us all, for all of our collective and individual benefit. So I’d say Muse of Light.

I read one of your posts on the whole “Is Knight/Page Passive or Active” thing. I can tell it’s a touch subject for you. I mean you blow up in that post, somebody touched a fucking nerve. (I also find it funny that your a Hope player and you have such a strong belief. Very fitting.)

Haha, I mean. To the extent that I’m snappy, it’s not really so much about readings of Pages as a class as it is with the interpretations of Jake that those readings tend to spawn. I mean not just Jake, really–all the Alphas are equally messed up and cruel and painfully noble and mutually loving.

It’s endlessly frustrating that some of the best characters in the story and in all fiction have gotten so passed up, is my opinion.

And it’s a lot harder to spread conversations about Homestuck than it was in the, like, golden age, so to speak. And that’s not anybody’s fault? Buuut I still care about the story, that’s why I’m here. So I’m gonna have feelings about it.

That said, there’s a heavy extent to which I’m playing my contentiousness up.
I just default to sarcasm a little as a person, and it’s also kind of true that it’s sometimes easier to get people interested in stuff that sounds highly critical/angry :p

So I try really hard not to come off like I’m looking down on anyone or being too mean-spirited, but well. Like you said, I’m a Hope player, and I think writing as passionately as I do usually makes me more entertaining to read, if also somewhat snappy.

So yeah, I’ve got my reasons. I’m happy to be open about it insofar as people find it compelling and understandable, but I’d also rather not, like. Seem genuinely mad either. If that makes sense.

Anyway thanks for the ask, you’re definitely not wrong 😛

duelist I just thought of something It`s that sollux is a idiot for not giving other trolls sgrub we know trolls that are not made by the game can still play and have classpects or maybe the pre scratch trolls that could be something that happen and what would your troll oc look like ( game and time)

I dunno that Sollux messed up, he just didn’t have a massive globe-spanning corporation to transmit the game to the planet/empire through like Grandpa did with Skaianet.

As for my trollsona, he’s in one of the Aspect videos! Here he is again:

Thanks for the ask! :B

So after you’ve pointed out that Dammek has some Breath aspect associations and Xefros Time aspect associations, I realized that it might have something to do with the alpha and beta troll’s aspects – as in, Dammek being a bronzeblood and having breath stuff goin’ on is kinda reminiscent of the Nitrams being Breath players. Is it possible that blood caste has some sort of “aspect influence” and what makes a true sign a true sign is actually having the aspect your caste is associated with?

Yeah, as far as I can tell blood caste has some kind of Aspect Influence. Possibly dreaming moon, too, since the “True Signs” are those that match the Homestuck trolls’ Aspect *and* dreaming moon.

I’ve been writing about that here on and off, but I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet that the Extended Zodiac itself suggests this might be the case:

This bit of text shows up for every True Sign, matching them to their corresponding Sign Class. So it seems that there’s some kind of relationship to them, indeed.

so how long is your next video going to take I wait and please don`t take 2 weeks again ( game and time )

right now I’m looking to upload on the second and fourth saturdays of every month, so that’d be january 13th for the next one, though patrons get access to early viewing if I’m able to finish them soon enough.

Sorry for the wait, but my current living situation means even uploading that often is really hard for me! These things take a LOT of time and effort to edit together. Thanks for understanding!

It might be late and sorta obvious, but I have a quick speculation that Baizli Soleil suffers from depression or some other mental illness – “stay hydrated”, after all, is a common tumblr reminder to do basic self-care aimed at people with such problems.

Yeah, I mean, I think most of the Alternian trolls are coded as having some kind of mental illness. The kids too, but like, Alternian society itself is a dystopic wasteland. It’s basically designed to ensure these kids are disassociated, desensitized to violence (both literal and structural, from the system and others to them), and willing to hurt others. Most of these kids are probably not super healthy.

Hey, I really like your channel! It is nice to see someone have similar views on a lot of topics within Homestuck. Sadly, I have not come to ask you about Homestuck. I just wanted to ask you, how did you start? What made you want to do this, and what other content did you/are you considering to cover?

I pretty much started by…just starting. Specifically, by blogging/writing about Homestuck stuff that I felt was going underaddressed here on Tumblr.
First I just wanted to change fandom perception of Dirkjake, and that desire expanded to include pretty much the entire narrative, particularly Classpects and the comics more obscure/implied thematic and narrative beats.

I’ve always been pretty at home with symbolism and metaphor as narrative tools, so I was never really in agreement with the common fandom mindset that Homestuck’s ending was bad, or that most things in the narrative weren’t clear enough.

And it became clear that if I wanted discussion about my views to happen, I was going to have to be the one to speak for them. So I started doing more serious research into Homestuck and the sources it tends to value, and the more I did, the more I wanted to talk about it and make these nuances and insights more widespread.

I haven’t stopped uncovering interesting stuff since, so here we are. Then I lost my job when Trump won the election, so I decided to borow from some of my favorite writers on games/fiction and take my approach to Youtube.

I didn’t know a thing about video editing, and it probably shows, but the more stuff I put out the more I learn and the better I get. I try to view the whole endeavor as an experiment and a learning opportunity, and I’ve improved my skills in pretty much every craft I’ve ever been interested in as I’ve gone on.

That’s pretty much the long and short of it.

As for what I might want to cover in the future, I keep a bit of a list of video ideas churning about in my head at any given time on my About page.

The first non-Homestuck thing I do will probably be on either Legend of Zelda or Persona 5, since those are the two most direct next-of-kin to Homestuck’s Classpect system, and Classpects will probably feature often whenever I talk about non Homestuck stuff.
