Can you explain or link me to a post that explains the whole Arquius, Gamzee, and Caliborn, Claymation, Dirk putting them into lil’ Hal part of Homestuck because that hole section never made sense to me never makes sense to me

Here’s what happens in the Masterpiece:

The kids warp over to Caliborn. He sticks the Betas in his Juju, and all indications are they’ll just pop back out later when Vriska releases them in [S] Act 7.

Gamzee gets cut in half by Dirk, and then Caliborn beats the shit out of the Alphas. Then he gets focused on Dirk because he always had kind of a weird kismesis attraction thing going on with him, ends up beating Dirk up really bad, Jake sees Dirk in danger and throws a tantrum of cosmic proportions while unlocking his Hope powers and beating the crap out of Caliborn with his gay hope bubble.

The beating gives Dirk the time to fire off the soul-destroying spell we saw Brain Ghost Dirk use on Aranea, thanks to the sudden appearance of Arquis (who emerges from Literally Nowhere–he’s part Void player, remember?) who holds Caliborn down. Caliborn’s soul is forced into Lil Cal’s, along with AR’s(a Dirk), Equius’, and half of Gamzee’s body/soul.

As the most willful player, Caliborn predominates over the other three and presumably consumes their souls–they now exist as parts of him, so they’re essentially dead. Lord English seems to be made up primarily of Caliborn with only the most passive hints of Gamzee’s soul present. Doc Scratch seems to be primarily AR, with glimmers of Equius and subservient to Lord English’s will.

Incidentally, this lines up with the player’s Class type–A Lord is the “most Active”  kind of player, and Princes are also “very Active” according to Calliope. Bard are Passive, and all signs point to Heirs being passive too. Gamzee and Equius adopt the passive roles in their new existences accordingly.

Caliborn wanted to be “bros” with Dirk, and now he gets a  warped version of Dirk as his eternal bro puppet forever.

Feel free to send another ask if you’re still confused about something in particular!

It just occurred to me that Jake and Dirk might have to be careful after they get back together, because Dirk could very well just do whatever Jake wants, even if he doesn’t want to, because he’s afraid to be “selfish” or some such nonsense, perhaps without even realizing he’s doing it. And that’s not very healthy in a relationship. It sounds dangerous because it’s something that might be hard for either of them to notice at first.

Definitely true.

I mean. In my view, relationships always require being careful–any long-term relationship is going to have ways people can hurt each other, that’s part of the deal. There’s lots of other ways Dirk and Jake’s relationship could go south: Dirk’s self-loathing not being communicated enough, Jake’s escapism and self-delusion taking hold again, etc, etc.

This is as true of Dirk potentially self-sacrificing for Jake needlessly as it is of, say, Rose indulging her carefully cultivated posturing at the expense of her communication with Kanaya which is something we saw put a great deal of stress on Kanaya in the comic.

All relationships require balance. All relationships require constant communication and assessing your own and each other’s needs. All relationships come with risk of pain. That’s kinda just the way of it.

I am quite late, but “he’s never said something was going to happen in Homestuck and then not delivered at all.” he never delivered on more than three Homestuck books, after assuring fans in one of the Q&As he would definitely deliver them all.

Oh no, not awkwardly formatted books for a free product that is already available online. Truly this has destroyed the reputation of a man who put out a genuine multimedia creation myth epic up online for free and repeatedly powered through hiatuses and wait periods on the process of doing so.

I’m not sure why you’d think the books should be a priority once the Hiveswap shit hit the fan and his focuses narrowed to Hiveswap and finishing Homestuck but you do you, I guess?

I’ll revise my statement to “He’s never wavered from advancing the plot of Homestuck and telling us when a long wait is due to him working on something for it.”

re: epilogue. okay, yeah, thanks, that’s actually really reassuring. i think the pessimism people have around homestuck just got to me.

I’m glad I could help. I always try to keep in mind that Cynicism isn’t just easy to pull off, but also pretty damn fashionable, especially of late. It doesn’t really guarantee anyone is right about anything. With Homestuck and What Pumpkin, our only consistent knowledge is that we don’t know anything about what comes next. All of this is unprecedented, and anyone presuming to do more than guess at what’s coming is frankly doing a lot of posturing, especially when they run counter to the words Hussie himself has said.

do you think theres actually going to be an epilogue? like theres supposed to be, right?

Yeah, I don’t have any doubt about it and I think it’s really, really weird and annoying that the regular fandom line has sort of turned into this self-assured, smug skepticism about it. It makes literally no sense to me.

There are like, three plot lines all set to converge on The Masterpiece and the clash between Vriska and LE in the Void–Terezi finding Vriska, the fates of the Alpha and Beta kids, and the ghosts in the Void. Hussie already literally said there’d be an epilogue, and delays aside, he’s never said something was going to happen in Homestuck and then not delivered at all.

There’s no real reason to doubt the epilogues existence, and from my vantage point it’s honestly the likeliest thing delaying Hiveswap at this point, since he said himself he’d withhold releasing the game until this “other project” was ready as well. And since Hiveswap itself looks excellent and is already fleshing out Homestuck’s lore, I just don’t have a reason to doubt the quality of either the game or whatever the hell the epilogue will be.

Counterpoint to your active/passive mage/seer argument. I see seers as active because they seek out the knowledge themselves. Mages have the knowledge happen to them. Sollux doesn’t choose to gain that knowledge, he gains it passively (ie without specific intent to) through his experiences and situations. Seers seek the knowledge they want. Thoughts?

If the classes are specifically about knowledge and gaining knowledge then the important part is HOW they gain the knowledge, not what they do with it. In my opinion, at the very least

The issue is that the classes are flexible enough that it seems to me they both do it both ways. Sollux doesn’t choose to have visions of death, sure, but he does willingly learn (and prides himself on) skills as a hacker. Meulin DEFINITELY seeks out information linked to romance and emotions in the dreambubbles, and information about the Sufferer in Alternia.

More tellingly, though, there’s definitely times when the Seers gain information without seeking it out, too. Big examples include Rose having a bunch of memories dumped on her when Dream Rose merges with her from the Davesprite timeline, and Terezi’s [S] Remem8er moment, which she didn’t really seem to be in direct control of.

So yeah, it seems to me both classes engage with their Aspect both passively and actively at times. I do think what they do with it is just as important as how they get their information, too–it’s a mix of both things, as well as the way players relate to others in general. I don’t think there’s a cut and dry way to single out a particular factor as More Important, which means the most important thing in my opinion is habits over the player’s whole narrative, and who directly tends to benefit from the Player’s actions–the player themselves, or others around them?

So yeah, there’s no hard rules in this stuff I don’t think. Just a lot of predilections and average tendencies, if that makes any sense.

not the same anon but is a husky puppy not uh, a baby dog? there’s a breed of dog called a (Siberian)Husky, which is one of the most well-known “sled dogs”(a type of working dog used for pulling sleds, usually bred for thick fur, strength, etc), along with the Alaskan Malamute. Generally very big & pretty dogs, sometimes look like small wolves(small in comparison, wolves are HUGE) but not always. Often said to have a mischievous look in their eyes.

yeah i actually got several asks about this later i don’t know why i forgot…..huskies existed…and were called that lmao. thank u for savin me from my own dopeyness, everyone was real sweet about my momentary lapse in knowing basic dog facts which my anxiety appreciates. you’re all swell!

I JUST FINISHED THE REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA ANIME AND IT KILLED MY WHOLE FUCINH LIFE. WHERE IS MY CHILD UTENA AND ANTHY IM FUCKIN HAPPY FOR U, U HAVE NO IDEA okok breaaathiiiing. I have classes in 6 hours. My heart is on the floor and I need content, any tips? Also, should I watch the movie? The homestuck ending didn’t hit me this fucking hard in the head w/ the ending. Also do u have opinions on the ending of utena? I sorely need to hear someone’s else on this (1/2)

(2/2) oh and thanks?? Ur anthy malice tag was what piqued my interest in the anime, but I’ll pass for callmearcturus ask box too, because a gifset in their blog was the last drop in the glass that drowned me in utena hell. But anyway, love u and thanks! Have a nice day/night :*

Ok so (1) ha ha you forgot to hit anon the second time so now i get to follow a new Utena blog >:))

But (2) Watching the movie will not help you at FUCKING ALL in understanding the ending other than making some fairly obviously implied things more explicit but the entire movie is a goddamn trip so I do definitely reccomend watching it, if only for the lesbians and eye candy and surreal symbol dream logic. It’s a fun watch.

I have opinions on the ending of Utena, but like…Utena’s literally as dense as Homestuck and as meaningful to me, I could spend years of my life talking about Utena. If you have particular questions, it would help.

For now I’ll say that I think Utena’s Gnostic references and themes are as important to it as Homestuck’s. Akio and Caliborn are directly comparable as Yaldabaoth figures, and Anthy and Calliope are directly comparable as Sophias. It’s incredibly fascinating stuff to consider. So if you’re interested in both properties and want to figure out their endings in more detail, I suggest looking into that stuff.

I swear this isn’t on purpose, but I’m actually posting the next Homestuck video in the next couple days, which happens to go into the Gnostic stuff in some detail. That might be a good place to start, if you’re interested. At least that’s what I intended it to be, so I certainly Hope I succeeded!

I WILL SAY THIS MUCH: I think Utena herself is perfectly fine. She just left Akio’s world, but Akio’s world is not reality. Anthy went to find her. And find her she will.

You can’t deny a goddess, after all.

ps: @alotofmomos @nelfes hey looks like our efforts helped reel one in!!! Anthy’s Malice >:)

So I was rereading your essay on Dirk and Rose being furries (love it, btw) and you mentioned that every other kid except Jane was also a furry. Would you mind telling us why that is? Jake’s and Dave’s evidence is pretty obvious, but I’m curious about the rest. I don’t doubt it at all btw, in fact I think the reason I’m asking is because I think I noticed evidence for one of them and then promptly forgot, which annoyed me. So yeah, if you wouldn’t mind enlightening me, I’d be very grateful.

I mean Jade is also pretty self-explanatory, so at this point we’re down to Roxy and John, right? Roxy is PRETTY FUCKING THRILLED to see the birth of Jasprose, and I can’t really see her talking to Jade about furries and not being super down to draw herself as a catgirl even if she hasn’t yet.

I was almost about to admit there’s not actually THAT MUCH canon evidence of Roxy being a furry but then I remembered: She’s dating a snake girl. So yeah that ship sailed.

As for John, he literally bemoans his own lack of a furry alt-self in conversation with Rose.

So there I rest that case.

Also while it’s true I’ve said Jane isn’t a furry I should stress that comes with an appended Yet, because really the girl already made a Trollsona. Just wait until Jade has a furry themed birthday, it’s just a matter of time.

And it is my personal conviction that all these different species are mutually furries to one another anyway, because like. They are.
