I’ll keep it short. I think you’re not recieving most of my asks. (Not blaming you but like what are we gonna do)

I’ve never seen a single ask from you that I recognize other than a couple of dirkjake ones, and I tend to answer those because…you hit my weak spot, which is dirkjake.

But I have gotten a lot of asks from anons saying something similar. Those may have been you? I have no idea, and I don’t know what to do about it since nowadays I get WAY too many asks to even answer them all, let alone sort them by person and whatnot.

Wish I could be more helpful but all I can really say is, keep trying to send them? Oh and I very rarely answer asks like “can you help classpect me or what would x classpect do” because I don’t see much of a practical reason to do so, so there’s that in case thats the kind of ask you’ve been sending.

Especially if you sent it on anon, I get so many asks to that effect that I don’t even know how to start trying to respond anymore. I could spend all day on tumblr just trying to keep up, and unfortunately for all of us (unless you like watching my videos) I got Shit To Do.

do you have any fanventures you would recomend?

Yes. @vasterror is a really interesting one I’m just getting started on sloooowly reading, and I can kinda already tell I’m gonna end up hooked, given what I’ve heard from one of the authors, who I’m lucky to be friends with and get the scoop from.

It might also help there’s a character named Taz in it, and I want to surround myself in as many other things that use my name as possible. I delight in the confusion of it. The Adventure Zone was awesome for me.

Also, my understanding is that @xamag-homestuck of canon-Homestuck-artist fame is involved as of recently, which is really exciting to me because I’ve missed their art a lot actually.

@joyfulldreams ‘ @hsactomega is also really great, especially since I have the benefit of getting to just kinda talk to the person directing it and as far as everything I’ve heard and seen of the story so far, the direction it’s going is  great.

Planning on doing videos on both of these eventually, when time and work allow me to.

There’s also Double Death of the Author at @thelifetimechannel, whos authors I was also lucky to meet and consider friends! To be perfectly honest I’ve dropped off on this one for a while, but at the very least I can say it has a cathartic alphas scene and that’s basically my equivalent to trickster candy, so I think it’s worth the price of admission for that. I do intend to catch up whenever I can, there’s just a lot of irons in the fire right now.

Honestly I’d reccomend any of them to someone who just wants more Homestuck or Homestuck-like content, since there’s simply nothing else like it out there anywhere else.

And all of these stories offer their own brands of commentary or artistic response to Homestuck, and whether or not I agree with the messages they send, I think that’s a really fascinating cultural process to witness with very few equivalents, simply because of the kind of story Homestuck is.

Plus there’s something to be said for the sheer ambition involved in deciding to do anything even remotely like Homestuck, so any artist tackling fan adventures has my respect. Especially on the scale of the projects I just mentioned, all three of which I think have been going on for…years?

yes. my Patreon rewards involve access to the Discord and invites with which the patron can invite friends who aren’t patrons. the patrons + invitees both get to vote on what order I do videos in for Homestuck: Explained when we get to new “stages” in the series, too.

At this point most of my breakthroughs/new insights about Homestuck tend to stem from conversations I have there, I’ve grown pretty proud of the variety of opinions and perspectives we house.

In an all out battle royale, which of the suburb players do you think would win? To keep things fair, lets assume everyone is god tier, neither of the cherubs are present, and the heroic / just requirement is waived (Dumb question, but I feel it’s fun)

i guess the kids because i cant really parse a battle royale where the kids/good trolls don’t decide to all work together and break the rules of the system pitting them against each other. they are all empowered by the power of FRIENDSHIP

Hello! First off, great Homestuck posts and discussions, furthering my enjoyment of the comic in general. In a post you said that Jake English’s being… Well, English, was a fan misunderstanding? I’ve been looking into canon references and other discussions and I am no clearer, I was wondering your reasons for thinking the fan assumption is wrong? Kind of a silly question. Anyway, keep it up

I remember that post, but I also remember a conversation that followed where I recanted the position because there wasn’t actually much explicitly debunking the position and I don’t see a need to harsh on the headcanon. British Jake is pretty neat, I like imagining it contrasting against Dirk’s affected Texan accent. 

i understand why people talk about the alpha kids’ friendship so much, since it’s so deeply rooted in their character arcs, but i must admit i’ve always been a sucker for the beta kids as a whole and i’m sad that their relationship dynamics weren’t explored that much past the first acts. hey ARE the original BFFS 4 LIFE set of characters in homestuck, after all

i mostly talk about the alphas more because people dont really appreciate their friendships as much and typically regard one or more of them as assholes/don’t like to think about them

i, meanwhile, will not rest until the fandom understands that hating any one of the alphas in favor of the others is missing the point, and it would be a surefire way to get the other three to hate you.

also i need the fandom to know that dirk and jake are just as good a romance arc as davekat or vrisrezi or rosemary. homestucks good at romance y’all.

anyway the betas own too i just think they’re better understood/more celebrated. I’m not sad their relationships got less exposure later on because, hey, homestuck ain’t over. who knows how much beta interaction we can get soon enough!

If possible, I think you’d like to play or watch someone playing danganronpa v3. Let’s just say I found it rather similar to your works.

i have such an intense love/hate relationship with the danger rumpus that i am immediately interested and also appalled at the thought of engaging with the franchise again. kinda how i feel about persona?

im sure i’ll play it eventually, inevitably. Once the youtube channel grows enough i would loooove to branch into doing review videos of stories that have a LOT OF POTENTIAL but also really big problems like both of these examples so it’s definitely something i’m considering down the line
