alright so at first karkat is pretty annoyed with jake

but at one point dave karkat jake and dirk go on a little
expedition, and karkat gets a good look at jake english working hard

and, just, damn, the physicality on jake english

i mean, karkat would never be unfaithful to dave, of course,
but you can’t fault him for admiring

and karkat’s always worried about not being taken seriously
because he;s not much of a fighter

so he asks jake if he’d be willing to give some pointers on
how to be as strong as jake

and jake is esctatic to help, because he lived on the island
for so long and developed all these techniques that he’s been dying to share

so jake becomes something of a trainer for karkat, to build
his body and his confidence

Dave likes the results.

TBH i have actually thought about this before, like if fraymotifs could be used outside of combat, could a seer’s powers combined with heart or blood get you something like that? probably not, since there’s no indication that the seer of blood (kankri) could literally see the connections between people, but it’s a fun idea. (dirk voice: rose, did you know that your soul is a writhing mass of orange tentacles? pretty dope.)
