did you see that ardata and marvus got their signs revealed on the new trollcall page? does this change the analysis you had of them in any way?

yeah! i mean i didnt really feel married to an aspect for ardata but i was closest to Blood, so this is interesting. Doom makes a good amount of sense in retrospect.

Obvs Marvus I had pegged for Blood too, which turned out to be wrong! That’s really interesting, since it changes a lot of the conceptions I had about him and Boldir. Still inclined to see him as a Lord, but obviously the overlap with Caliborn also makes me doubt it.

I’m entirely rethinking both counts, but that’s fine by me because it makes things more interesting :B Makes me glad i held off making videos on them before we found out for sure mostly.

Last post on this for now but: You can find my twitter, patreon and youtube here which are the best ways to keep up w me:

I am deeply invested in the Homestuck fandom and will be sticking around on Tumblr, but this is obvs going to become a much more unviable platform for tailored content. Just not worth the effort expense with how much the audience is going to shrink.

I am giving a lot of thought to where the fandom might go from here and how it might benefit. Watch this space for updates and hopefully we’ll all find ourselves somewhere entirely new soon enough–Ideally, somewhere where actual communities can be built. Remember forums? Those were fun.

See y’all later I am distancing myself from this and gathering my thoughts for right now.

Keep rising.

Rosemary is the most romantic ship in the universe and Daraya didn’t have to prove that but she DID IT, FOR US, THE GAYS!!!!!!!!

I’ll get to classpect meta later but honestly this is so important

Daraya’s path put Jadebloods into much sharper focus as a caste subject to incredibly strict control and norms of behavior. Specifically, norms concerning romantic and intimate interest in other trolls, where young, fleeting relationships might be allowed but consummated, long-lasting adult relationships are explicitly illegal.

It actually reminds me a fair bit of the “Class S” genre in manga and anime, which depicted lesbian love among young schoolgirls but always in a lens that painted those relationships as fleeting, or inherently doomed and tragic.

This puts Kanaya’s early struggles with romance into some really compelling context. Of course she’s more interested in those “More Daring” than her. Of course she’s compelled by people willing to break rules and flaunt convention and risk everything for what they want, like Vriska.

Who else could she dare to hope would be with her? As romantic and extremely into girls as she is, under ordinary circumstances, romance and love were an impossible dream for Kanaya. But by god…

Kanaya said “fuck that” and fucking got it anyway.

She ollied out of her entire universe and hooked up with the girl who wrote her favorite Gamefaqs entry. And then that girl led her through space and time and places where spacetime doesn’t EXIST to a blank slate planet. And then that girls’ Mom handed her the key to ensuring Kanaya’s entire SPECIES could live and love there freely, forever and ever and FUCKING ever after that, A MEN.

Kanaya loves girls so hard that it obliterated the cruel karmic punishment shoved onto her ENTIRE caste, and she’s FREE NOW, AND KISSING ROSE RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT.

GAY RIGHTS, HOMESTUCK SAID!!!

Hey guys! It’s the Steam Game awards, and I saw this category

and immediately thought of the amount of detail and storytelling in every

single

background

in the entirety of hiveswap. I mean, these were a few I had grabbed before for something else, I didn’t go look specifically for good examples (though literally every screen would count.

Homestuck has always been great at using the environment and what’s around a person’s room/house/etc to tell about them, and Hiveswap took it to the next level, not only making lush and detailed environments that are gorgeous and very evocative of the time period that things take place in (at least in the human end), but also making almost every single part of it interactable with everything, giving you tons of unique dialogue that further fleshes out those characters if you delve.

I know it may be too small to stand a chance, but it sure as fuck deserves a win much more than any game I can think of… especially as most are vast, empty expanses of repeated elements, an afterthought that exists because the characters that need a place to stand, not full of character all their own.
So, um, if you see this, please signal boost and vote for Hiveswap, because it’s definitely deserving.
