im actually not even kidding about this since tagoras influence by the Mind aspect which is largely about controlling how you present yourself to the world, and logical choices, theres likely a societal pressure for him to put thought into appearances

im gonna just need you to talk to me abt a.) tagora and 2.) aspects always, RD, just sayin

but anyway yeah like. I’ve been COMPLETELY sold on the idea of an alternian equivalent to a Sun/Moon sign for trolls revolving around the given aspects for their own sign, and aspects that influence them via their caste.

Tagora is so fucking obviously Space/Mind, aside from a pretty obvious societal pressure on him as a midblood to be what Teals are supposed to be (and to not look like a lowblood, since midbloods are kind of neither high or low to the low or high), he’s undoubtedly obsessed with appearances and creating appearances. He’s got an ostentatious fucking mirror and bathroom for fucks sake, which is the loudest tell for that than anything, and while he’s a real smooth talker when he’s doing his bit, when something unexpected crops up it throws him off significantly (mildly when he sees youre an alien, majorly when Galekh shows up unannounced) which is suggestive of him throwing on a whole facade. like anyone is surprised.

there’s also something to be said about him being creative, too, crafting up a scam pretty fucking on the spot but also in creating a persona he can step into that he probably isn’t wholly naturally.

im in fucking LOVE with him

I think it’s quite telling-from how you’re describing him, anyway-that the way tagora thinks about keeping up appearances is focused on very traditionally space linked things–visual arts/fashion, and decorating or designing ones environment, which all space players seem to do a lot.

I hope you realize this means tagoras true calling in life is probably something like. Interior decor or something. Lmao

Edit; also hearing that was validating as fuck, thank u

angel-of-double-death:

Tagora is the opposite of this

Instead of paying him to stop talking, you have to pay him for everything he says.

And based on the fact that a few of the times he made this expression, there seemed to be no cause…

And the fact this is on his troll call card, and that he communicated with his lusus by them just looking at each other…

I think it’s because he really hates talking to people, so you have to pay him to talk.

Also, on a side note:

I love his lusus.

i was expecting to love this guy as a villain, not a friend. more the fool i am. holy shit this is adorable im losing it

i just saw a really bad negative review of friendsim on steam and it made me mad so

i thought id mention one of the most helpful things we can prob do for friendsim rn is just leave it positive reviews to boost the score and reception if we like it.

positive attention and press is everything for wp right now–the more the friendsims succeed, the more money and resources wp has, the sooner hiveswap act 2 can happen, the sooner wp’s excellent laid-off staff can be hired back

i really think this fandom needs to remember that homestuck‘s ridiculous hype was generated entirely by word of mouth. homestucks were the ones who funded and created undertale, which reached similar levels of hype again through word of mouth.

this community has and continues to demonstrate its own power–we just need to keep in mind that we have it. if you want wp to be successful and the artists we love to be re-employed and all that, the course of action to take is simple:

just talk about the stuff you love about the work this fandom is built around. help other people find it and love it, too. that’s whats going to make the difference in the futures of homestuck and hiveswap.

leave a review on the friendsim volumes if you have the time and you enjoyed them. thats a small first step we can take, that even i hadn’t thought of for some reason.

Anyway, I just wanted to say. Hope this moves you to do or say anything positive for hiveswap that you might not have done otherwise, even if its just reblogging this to spread the thought around. thats really all i can possibly ask for.

just finished going through vol. 3 with a couple patrons

jesus christ, skylla’s path was the best written and most painful yet.

this is what ive been talking about for months, that hiveswap would explorethe way alternia just hurts everybody, by design.

but it feels weird to really be experiencing it. kinda surreal, after so long of imagining alternia as an abstract idea, a hypothetical suffering. this makes it real and its…god. the last couple days have already been tough on me in some uh. similar ways, so. i’m a bit shaken.

poor skylla. i’d die for her. i hope hiveswap leads her somewhere that she can be happy, because god she deserves it

Friendsim vol 2 thoughts real quick before I get back to work

Amisia is pretty interesting. Fairly convinced she’s a Maid of Mind, though she’s got arguably more Void coding than Mind coding, which makes sense since she’s an Indigo blood. Healing you through blank holes in the wall, being a “fake” painter, struggling with the creative/imagination part of art, the super strength, so on.

Cirava strikes me as an Heir. They have some Doom influence, despite being a Hope player–suffering and it’s commiserating acceptance obviously has some resonance with their arc, they even say the word “suffering” dramatically at one point if I remember right.

Reason I say Heir is because their role is pretty much entirely to change you for your benefit. When they try to do so directly, it leads to the bad callout post ending. When they take the more passive approach of letting you change yourself, you end up in the good ending.

Interestingly, Hope with Cirava is all about fashion, and making yourself desirable and interesting to a broad audience. I’ll probably have more to say about the Hope angle later, but honestly the fact that both these trolls are linked to the aspect of their Caste as well as their true sign is the most interesting part of all this to me right now. @wakraya‘s true sign caste theory is going strong.

I think Ardata might be a Witch of Blood or at least roleplaying one. She has many references to blood like “bloodthirsty on main” on her troll call card and her bloodsucking tick lusus. Her familiar might be the pressures and expectations of society put on her due to her blood caste and what higher castes will do if those expectations aren’t met, thus having her be changed by it. She also says that the protag is the only one who has legit tried to befriend her (have a bond). What do you think

I can see it. This is the first time I’ve seen her relationship to her viewers expressed in Blood terms–I’ve had friends suggest them as a Mind Familiar–and at this point I can see it going either way. Blood would definitely tie into her tick, though, so yeah it’d be a logical read.

Still not sure about anything with her, but I’ve added this interpretation to my list to consider. Thanks for the insight!
