Have you played part two of Hiveswap yet, if so what classpects do you think Amisia and Cirava are? (My bets for Amisia are either sylph of mind or maid of mind, because of the healing she did to the player’s arm, and I want to say that Cirava is a knight of hope, for reasons that are a bit more of a spoiler, if you haven’t played, but I’m not that great at analysis, so who knows lol.)

Amisia struck me as a Maid, yeah. Interestingly I feel like she’s got more Void coding than Mind at this point–healing you through the holes in her wall, being a “fake”/unreal painter, etc. Her actions to lead to some pretty Mindy- tangents, though, like MSPA Reader briefly trying to meditate/center themselves or going on that rambly thought-stream while bleeding out.

Cirava I’m not certain about, but there’s a lot of the word Change in their playthroughs so I’m inclined to see them as an Heir, or maybe Witch–though the fact that the MSPA Reader benefits from their changes more than they themselves do leans me towards Heir.

Not sure, though. I’ve only had the time to play through the game once, so I’ll probably have more to say after later playthroughs.

Im really curious, how do you think hiveswap will incorporate SBURB into its story? I know hussie wants the story to be “self-contained”, so it may just stay in lore rather than direct plot.

I kinda doubt we’ll be exposed to Sburb much directly unless the ending really does go the “escape into Sburb” route, which i find relatively unlikely. so i do think itll probably stay in the lore for the most part.

That said i think we’ll be learning a lot about aspects and probably classes too, since I don’t think those are exclusive to Sburb. As i’ll be making clear in…oh, about an hour.

My take on Dammek is Prince of Blood, personally; he’s looking to destroy the status quo as it is, and even kill another hero of blood. However, he’s kinda bleeding (heh) over into himself; he’s destroying his own relationships with what he believes are more important commitments (IE leading the rebellion; which is important, but not to the point where he should treat his Moirail as he does) However, Theif does make a lot of sense too! He has been taking Xefros’ stuff for a while

I can totally see that, and still think its a real possibility!

What tips the scales for me is the Archetypal background I typically associate with each Class. Prince is a Royalty class, which implies some kind of high/noble birth or status, and an internalized sense of superiority over others that the Royal must overcome to take control of his ego, and so his destructive power.

The Makaras and Amporas are the highest blooded members of the hemospectrum short of the Fuschias, and both Meenah and Feferi keep themselves rather seperate from the idea of actually being better than others due to their class–both of them renounce the title of Heiress and abandon the throne, one way or another.

The AR considers himself “above” his friends because he is a post-singularity AI, and often makes statements positioning himself as “above” their corporeality. So on.

Thief is an outlaw class, which implies being removed, outcast, or alienated from society and its rules. Nepeta and Vriska both consider the hemospectrum irrelevant, for example.

All Thieves and Rogues spend some amount of time either literally living outside mainstream society (Nepeta’s cave, Rufioh’s lost weaboos tribe, Meenah living on the moon) or thinking about living outside of it (Vriska’s fascination with Piracy).

The latter sounds a lot more like Dammek to me–living on the fringes of society in his own rebel network, a network that’s apparently robust enough to provide him with a shitload of loot and goods he wouldn’t otherwise have access to. Feels a lot more like Vriska’s hoard, gathered through roleplay exploits, than it does like Eridan’s born wealth and status.

Also Dammek is referenced using the “take” verb in Act 1, and I haven’t noticed him being linked to Royal verbs like “Destroy” or “Break” just yet. That said he is a noted revolutionary, and I’ve been thinking revolution/revolutionaries could be conceptually linked to the Royal classes for a while.

So I really do think its a possibility! I think it’ll become clearer as we figure out what makes Dammek tick. i want…more hiveswap

Hey. I asked this question a few days ago, but you didn’t answer, so I decided to try again. I don’t know what else to do. My question was what do you Dammek’s classpect is

my opinion is that he’s a thief of blood, probably being forced into roleplaying a Knight (by way of butlering) to some extent, and ghosting “Breath” either as a result of that stress, the influence of the Breath-coded Bronze caste, or both.

so Thief of Blood->Knight of Breath, with the latter being unhealthy behavior he’s forced into. because of that influence, he’s taken at least one notable action that comes off like a Thief of Breath and Blood, simultaneously.

That would be the theft of Xefros’ hoverboard. Dammek takes Xefros’ stuff because Xefros lets him, and Xefros lets him either because they’re moirails or because of Xefros’ feelings for him. Either way, Dammek is stealing through the strength of their relationship–stealing through Blood.

But the hoverboard itself is a distinctly Breath item. It flies, it allows for motion and freedom, it advances the plot, and the laser it emits is distinctly Breath blue. Which means Dammek is stealing Breath.

Blood is how he actually achieves the theft–fitting, since it’s his natural strength. But Breath is what he’s choosing to steal, and imo that speaks to Dammek’s likely unhealthy state of mind and skewed priorities/self-image.

That help?

What classpect do you think Diemen is? I’m thinking he’s a Seer because of the hidden eyes and the “Sign of the Visualiser”.

see here for why i currently think he’s a thief, but its worth mentioning i’m not entirely sure if thats roleplay–he didnt exactly choose to have his house blown up, after all. his actual class could be something else,

that said, i didnt pick up on any of the signifiers i usually look for from prophet classes in him. not saying that means he isn’t a seer–i could always be full of shit about everything, or the friendsim might not be super indicative of classpect or what diemen is like in hiveswap proper.

but assuming the friendsim does clue us into the characters’ classpects, and that diemen in the friendsim is basically analogous to diemen in hiveswap, i dont currently see it.

1/2 I’ve been shouting non-stop that Hiveswap Friendswim is the tonal sequel to Jailbreak we didn’t know we… wanted? Expected? It’s the most aggressively counter-culture thing Andrew Hussie has done in years. Cannot figure out who the game is for. Hiveswap fans? The ones who made a billion posts going googoo over the Troll Call and what precious babies they all were? (Even as I sat on the sidelines muttering ‘hey remember that Trolls are canonically awful as a race’ so VALIDATION)

2/3 So I can’t imagine that the game is for Hiveswap fans – this is about as far from lovable Joey and Xennos as one can get. Is it for the people who loved Jailbreak an only Jailbreak, because I can’t imagine they’re still around. It doesn’t have any references to please the Old Homestucks (the Never Hiveswap crowd). Content wise it seems to reject marketability, so its certainly not to please Viz execs. It’s like Hussie decided to make an hour-long piece of content

3/3 designed solely for Homestuck theorists, in the sense of ‘let’s throw them the craziest curveball imaginable.’ But even then its strangeness is one of tone more than lore or weird plot shit. WHO IS THIS GAME FOR, RD? (I’m not saying I didn’t like it, but nor am I saying I did like it. I laughed a lot, but it also disturbed me. I don’t know how to feel. Help me, RD. Help me understand the Friendsim)

I agree with you that the Friendsim doesn’t seem immediately marketable, so I find it sorta comforting. It feels like something Hussie would do, not something he was assigned to do via corporate agenda, which I wasn’t too worried about anyway but its nice to be reassured.

As for the rest, uh. I dunno, I think it’s pretty indicative of what I was expecting from Hiveswap itself, so I kinda think its just meant for hiveswap fans lol. People like getting to know trolls, and trolls have always been fucked up.

But that’s because Alternia society is fucked up, not because trolls as a race are awful. Personally, I thought Diemen was immensely lovable, and I am fairly goddamn swooned. Not really sure there’s much a Hiveswap fan will take issue with there.

Ardata’s definitely, uh, a vriska. but I’ve always liked Vriska more than not, and Ardata was a really interesting showcase of the pressures highbloods get put under. She ain’t exactly happy with her brutal responsibilities, so theres about as much room to make her sympathetic as there was with Vriska.

Nothing in the friendsim stuck out to me as particularly worse than whats in the comic, it was just delivered in a more jokey and over the top style. The people who are scandalized or shocked by the way trolls are fucked up will get over it, just like they got over how Vriska/Eridan/Gamzee were fucked up.

And hopefully that will be to all our benefits, since as people get more excited about getting to meet more trolls via friendsim, prospects for Homestuck and Hiveswap will grow brighter as well. Personally, I’m quite pleased with the game so far. The tone’s pretty jailbreak, but the characterization and soul are all homestuck.

Hey gang!

First of all, Happy 4/13!! It’s great celebrating everything Homestuck today, but most important is that we get to celebrate it with all you lovely people. ❤

Second, Hiveswap Friendsim is now available! It’s somewhat like a visual novel or a dating simulator, but you’ll be looking for friendship instead of dating or romance. You know … a friendship simulator. Friendsim! This first volume, written by Andrew Hussie, features Ardata and Diemen.

You’ve just crash-landed on Alternia. You meet two trolls. What do you do?

Check out the trailer here.

Okay people, red alert, red fucking alert

What the fuck hussie

If the Hiveswap Act 1 is the equivalent to Homestuck Act 1…

Good lord are we in for a ride

I mean, we all knew it was Hussie so what can you expect. But directly relating Hiveswap and Homestuck first acts? It’s only going to get more insane

Hiveswap presented itself as a cute little indie game. I’m assuming we can expect a lot of death in the acts to come.

Is he implying that Hiveswap is going to be insanely long? Who’s the huge villain going to be? What else does he have planned? We should all be terrified.

t e r r i f i e d

The huge villain is probably LE/ his associates. There’s hints to LE all over act 1, so he’s around!
