Hi! I saw your last video about hiveswap and then look the aspectbound table. And then had the subit idea of, if earthbound/mother is heavily inspired by the Beatles in musical and spiritual levels, this influence would have touch Homestuck and Hiveswap too? (And in some curiosities like all starts with a John kid, there was an important apple, an asshole killed him, Jade looks like John but is a girl who looks like Yoko, etc. Ah, was a group of four who can play instruments. Um.)

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard that Earthbound was heavily inspired by the Beatles spiritually. It has references to it, though, yes. Homestuck does too, I think–or at the very least, Hiveswap does. “Hey Jude” is an achievement, after all.

Viz Media enters games publishing with an anime-inspired debut

Well, now. This is interesting. It seems Viz Media is branching into games publishing, focusing on what they describe as “original, narrative-driven games.”
The first of these games will be “The World Next Door”, published by Rose City Games. For those of you unaware,  RCG worked with WP on Hiveswap’s marketing, making the launch trailer and stuff like that.

TWND already looks fantastic to me, so I’m excited :B But mainly I’m mentioning this because it expands the window of possibility for what we can reasonably expect of Homestuck’s epilogue.

“I wanted to do something a little unusual for it, something existing outside the confines of the web story. Working with Viz struck me as good opportunity for this.

Aside from that, anything can happen. Take a look at the sorts of things Viz has already published or produced. These are all examples of things on the table for future consideration for either Homestuck or Hiveswap. I’ve got plenty of ideas, and so do they. Maybe you do too??”

So yeah! It’s entirely possible it’s a comic project or something like that–we won’t know until we know. But I was sort of hoping for a game-like flash project or something for a while, so things just got a little more exciting to think about!

Viz Media enters games publishing with an anime-inspired debut

Greetings! I came across your videos on the claspects, especially involving Xefros, and I enjoyed them! I just have one question though. Concerning Knights, you said they serve their aspect or serve through their aspect for others, but from what I heard, Knights exploit their aspect/exploit through their aspect. Any thoughts? Also, just a bit curious, but do you do analysis of claspects?

I don’t do analysis of classpects like, one by one, because honestly it’d be way too time consuming. I do write about Classpects as part of my analysis of Homestuck’s characters, however, since I regard both the true Classes and the characters’ various attempts at Roleplay as important sign posts for how to read their character arcs.

As for Knights as Exploiters, I know the view, but don’t share it. I figure the best thing I can do is present my own personal views on Classpects/reading of the canon, and let the fandom decide whether they have merit from there.
I’ve written on my views on the terms “Exploit” and “Allow” here, and the link contains sub-essays on each pair of classes, as I see them.

Here’s some links to Homestuck stuff I’ve talked about:

Jane Crocker

Dirk Strider

Jake English

Rose Lalonde & Witches

Gamzee Makara

(Needs Revision. Like, all of these do? But this one does extra.)

Jade Harley

Roleplay Pt. 1 – Vriska, Tavros | Mindfang & Rufio

Roleplay  Pt. 2 – Horrorstuck

I should also mention the video on Xefros covered about half of the article I actually wrote about him. Had to be a ruthless editor to keep the video at a watchable size. So here’s that, along with my Hiveswap writing on:

Xefros Tritoh

Joey Claire

Jude Harley

Pa Harley

I think about Homestuck. a lot. I might have a problem.

Here’s to the start of a new series! Hiveswap Lore will run concurrently  with Homestuck: Explained, and will be aimed at covering various parts  of Hiveswap’s deep story that you might not glean from one or two playthroughs.

We start by covering Xefros Tritoh, as we explore how he  affects others, and how the roles forced onto him by Alternian society affects his state of mind!

Full disclosure: This is a reading I’ve developed through my own research, so I could well be getting some things wrong! If anything I say here is disproven, I’ll definitely raise the subject again in future videos.
We’ll be talking about Xefros’ (and others) Classpects again as more Acts come out regardless.

So If mages or more adept in miracles, how does that work with every aspect ? How does one perform a miracle with light or with rage? What range does the word “miracle” entail ?

I tried to express this point back in the Force & Flow essays, but I’m not sure I succeded, so I’m glad for the chance to revisit it! I think I can answer your first question with the second. The range of a “miracle” is essentially the same as the range of “magic”, a concept that canonically applies to Heirs, Witches, Maids and Sylphs.

Jesus’ story is imported into Homestuck in the story of the Signless–a Seer.
When Jesus comes up, John describes him as magic–just as he later describes himself, Jade, and Rose in the midst of her Witch roleplay.  (And yes, this does mean the Jegus meme had a payoff in the form of classpect exposition.)

Later on, Rose seems to more or less figure out how to roleplay a wizard. But when Dave thinks to ask, she makes it clear what she’s doing isn’t exactly casting spells in the typical sense.

Which makes sense, because Prophets aren’t typically thought of as being magic per se. If you think about it, the miracles Jesus performs aren’t really that different from what we might imagine wizards could do.

What makes them different is a matter of emphasis. Wizards are regularly linked to knowledge, just like prophets are. Hence the concept of the “wizard’s spellbook”. But for magicians, knowledge is typically a means to an end, it’s an answer to “how” the magic is performed.

Prophets also do magic, but for them the emphasis is on the knowledge itself as opposed to the spellbook. A Prophet like Jesus or Moses would typically claim their magic wouldn’t happen at all, but for their faith in and knowledge of their divine Source–God.

Just trade in the figure of “God” for the Seer/Mage’s Aspect (the Aspects are inherently divine-coded anyway, given that they’re basically Aeons), and there you go. Any kind of magic you can think of a Prophet doing through their Aspect is something I believe reasonably falls under their purview.

I’d simply put just as much of an emphasis on what the Prophet might end up saying as a result of their Aspect’s influence, which is probably even more interesting. Do their prophecies concern/affect/benefit primarily themselves or others? How does their Aspect influence what message they have to give, and how they deliver it?

A particular nuance to the pair might be a penchant for resurrections/raising others from the dead, particularly in ways that might otherwise seem impossible. Sollux pulls this off for himself by half-ghosting, while Terezi pulls it off for Vriska by guiding John’s choices.

Does this answer your question, anon? It’s a pretty dang good one, btw.

Polypa is one of my favorite designs. Most of the new designs 5M3LL like Beforus but Polypa says Alternia everywhere! And if the trolls are being revealed in pairs they are probably related in some way.

So here it is! Polypa vs Tegiri!!!
