Role of the Master – The Lord

Those born
with the Role of the Lord are marked by power. They are a
powerful and influential force on their environments and everyone they know.
Whether by birthright or through hard work, Lords have earned, or will
eventually earn a position of dominion over that which they desire. They are
privileged, and for this, their biggest enemy is their own hubris. They may
think everything is always meant to go their way, and take reckless risks or
become conceited, yet the world always pushes back against someone who abuses
their influence blatantly. With great power comes great responsibility, and
this too is true of Lords, no matter how in control they think they are. At
their best, they are persistent leaders with the power to lead themselves and
others towards greatness, with the power to shape their future as they want. At
their worst, they can be oppressive, egomaniacal abusers of their power.

Lords hold an intense power over their Aspect, to the point they
may in some cases shape it to an extent. They may consider themselves to be in
a permanent position of leadership, but they should be careful about their
actions. A Lord’s situation may pit those around them against their cause, if
they exert their power too forcefully as to overwhelm and impose themselves,
even those they may consider their friends could turn their backs. They can be
a group’s greatest asset, and yet with such power, they can easily become
tyrannical with both the Aspect they have influence on, and the people they
exert their power on.

Being one of the Master Classes, Lords are the most Active Class on the
spectrum, as opposed to the Muse. And much like them, a Lord’s strengths lie
in Commanding. They Rule, they Command over their Aspect with
enough force to bend its will to suit them. They will always be favored by the
very forces of nature they are in control of, and while this doesn’t mean they
are untouchable or indestructible, it gives them an immense advantage. Their
control of their Aspect is unparalleled, to the point their very rule may shape
the reality surrounding them. Be careful if you’re opposed to a Lord, for their
reign is absolute.

Role of the Destroyer – The Prince

Those born
with the Role of the Prince are trapped in an internal
struggle. They consider themselves capable, intelligent, reliable, and they
likely are. However, their strong personalities and sets of values tend to make
them impose themselves upon others. As figures or authority, or merely taking
charge of the situation, a Prince’s biggest flaw is their ego. Thinking they
can do it better or that they know better can be quite harmful and detrimental
to their relationships with others, and with themselves. From holding
themselves to too high standards, to pushing others too hard thinking they’re
merely helping them out, Princes must find the internal balance between being
egotism and self-deprecation, but if they manage to strike the right spot, they
can become just as capable as they let on, while showing care, appreciation and
devotion like no other. At their best, they’re diligent, skilled and hard to
break. At their worst, they can be toxic, rude and arrogant.

Princes may find a relation between their struggle with their ego and
their Aspect, making it yet another facet they need to come to
terms with. Restricting themselves too much, and they will become stressed,
unhappy, and destroy themselves. Too permissive and lenient with their more
toxic behaviors, and they will become domineering, overwhelming, and destroy
those they care about. For better or worse, Princes are a powerful destructive
force, and must be careful how they handle themselves. Once everything clicks
into place and they find their balance, however, they can become an unstoppable
force to fight for their cause, an overwhelming power directed only towards
that which they do intend to harm.

Being one of the Destroyer Classes, Princes are the Active counterpart to the
Bards, and similar to them, their strengths lie in Destroying things. Reducing, Deleting, Erasing their Aspect or
through the use of their Aspect, they tend to be powerful combatants capable of
dealing devastating blows upon their enemies. They find it most comfortable and
easy to exploit their Aspect in order to destroy the obstacles right in front
of them, blunt, able to have an immense direct impact in a strife. Beware of
getting on the wrong side of a Prince, for few obstacles remain untouched in
their path.

These adjusted Aspect cards will be included in the upcoming reupload of my Classpect video, btw. The Aspect section itself didn’t change much other than these new cards, but I decided to take the opportunity to provide a more fully developed view of the Classes, and make the video easier to engage with by cutting it into halves.

I hope it will now serve as an even more appealing and concise introduction to Classpects to any would-be interested souls, so stay tuned on my channel for that update, if you’re interested. Feel free to use these you like them! All I ask is that you point people back to me if asked where you got them 🙂

Hey guys! Since @wakraya just released a Homestuck Class Test based somewhat on my writing, I figured it was a good time to release these assets describing the Classes, as well as the Aspect cards, tweaked slightly from their versions in my video on Classpects to reflect some clarified details provided by the Extended Zodiac.

Homestuck – Mythological Class Quiz

homestuckexamination:

Homestuck Class Quiz

As I mentioned a few days ago, given WhatPumpkin published the Aspect test last week, I had thought of making a Class test to go along with it! This one is 40 Questions long and will determine which one of the 14 Classes you’re more aligned towards! At the ending, you will be also able to see which other Classes you scored high on.

If you want to check the Classes and their descriptions individually, check these:

Role of the Creator – Sylph / Maid

Role of the Giver – Knight / Page

Role of the Visionary – Seer / Mage

Role of the Innovator – Heir / Witch

Role of the Taker – Rogue / Thief

Role of the Destroyer – Bard / Prince

Role of the Master – Muse / Lord

Kudos to @revolutionaryduelist for the Class Cards and most of his analysis, and to homestucking-girl for their Mage Sprite!

It’s pretty cool to see something like this happen, since it’s been years since the last Class test was made, and the most popular one includes fan classes.
I hope this test proves enjoyable for you guys until What Pumpkin produces a canon one! This is an exciting time to be a Homestuck/Hiveswap fan :B

Homestuck – Mythological Class Quiz

lime-bloods:

Okay, a bit late, but like I said, there was a reason I got back onto the topic of the extermination of the Gamblignants, and it’s to do with the Alternian enforcement of classes.

A lot of the classes that would be assigned to blood castes make easy sense. Rustblood maids because they’re a serving class. Purplebloods are bards for their performative wildcard nature. Princes are royalty, so that’s what violets are. Seers’ analysis is important for a class who act as assistants to the government (and seers as assistants to more combat-oriented classes is a concept that has been evoked within the comic itself).

Some of them are more symbolic. Heirs generally serve as the “Beta Male” class, so their being assigned to the caste that serve as lackeys to the top dogs of the land dweller race makes sense. Sylphs are a fitting role for jades for their nurturing and also mythical nature. Rogues might even make sense, given the heroic spin Homestuck applies to them, as the ones at the top of the lowblood group.

What really sticks out like a sore horn is the thief class. What reasonable society would implement a social class of criminals?

Well we know Alternia had one! The Gambligants were a distinct social group who were allowed to exist as such for what we can only assume was some time before the Subjugglators got around to exterminating them.

And in doing so we’re left with Vriska as what we can probably safely assume is the last member of the thief class.

That’s interesting, because it puts thief in a unique position shared with only Feferi’s witch class in that only one troll has the class. Which makes you wonder why!

A good place to start is probably that Meenah’s class was also thief, and we know at least a little bit about how she took over her session. The thief by nature is forceful and hard-headed, and really not a hero you want to have lying around in hoards.

Scorpio is also the sign of the Conqueror, which is a title that can be applied to Lord English himself since Caliborn took the path of the conqueror from Yaldabaoth.

The problem with the thief class being thinned down to just one member, of course, is that the chance that a thief will be involved in the SGRUB session are reduced significantly from what they would be if there were a whole social caste of thieves. Which would explain exactly why, of course, Doc Scratch chose Vriska in particular to be his protoge (and perhaps the same reason that Kanaya was chosen too, considering the extreme rarity of her own caste/class).

I like this a lot overall, and I’m pretty curious if the Class enforcement really is this consistent.

One thing I’d like to mention is that it is my view that Rustbloods are forced into the role of a Knight as much as the role of the Maid. For that matter, the Knight role seems to be forced on Bronzebloods, too.

There’s a pretty strong association between Butlers/Serving and Knights and Pages, with Knights typically serving others and Pages being the recipients of service. Mindfang describes Redglare as a “civil servant”. John refers to Dave as “serving all the ladies”, and asks why he can’t have a Dave butler, too.

Dirk and AR idolize Dave and strive to live up to the role of the Knight, and both are associated with Knights as a result. Grandpa remembers his Alpha friends, and Dirk specifically he recalls as a Knight, collecting suits of armor that evoke his memory.

AR’s final sacrifice in the Masterpiece, he takes on as an act of service for the other Alphas–giving Dirk time to destroy Caliborn for good. After that, he spends eternity inside Lord English’s soul, living out his Knight fantasy, monkey’s paw style–he’s Lord English’s personal Butler.

Associations between pairs of Classes and corresponding symbolic Archetypes are all over Homestuck, and I think they help a lot in figuring out what’s going on. Xefros, for example, makes reference to Serving Dammek in Act 1, as associated with his Butler uniform.
