its been almosy a year and i just got pissed off thinking about the end of homestuck

@ andrew hussie: you cant fix loose plot threads by giving us a little more character resolution !!

@hypeswap the frog is supposed to be the same frog which fell into the forge on lofaf at the end of act five, which explains why it came OUT of the forge during act seven. at least i think that’s where the frog came from but i could be wrong

no, THIS frog.

This is easily solved as a basic game mechanic: Jade sleptwalk to find that frog, which means some force in the game–Skaia itself, judging by the art there, because Jade is being drawn into position by a particularly bright vision in the clouds–influenced her to go and pick up the frog.

The sendification itself is entirely within Echidna’s abilities, as a monster with incomprehensible eldritch space powers. Jade’s memory of the event is then locked until she makes her Choice. I’m pretty sure that’s the clear implication to be drawn by the imagery here.

If you need extra confirmation for this: Consider that the game already makes the kids do stuff in their sleep to set up loops for itself. It’s just sort of part of the deal. The codes for First Guardian creation are one example of game mechanics using players’ sleeping selves to set up time loops and ensure the game is functional ; this one seeds the possibility for Space player success by seeding the most important frog in a place only accessible by a player making a Choice.

This wasn’t answered because it was never a mystery. The narrative was providing exposition, not setup–it just did so using visual storytelling and the wider logic of the game as well as direct textual confirmation. Homestuck does that a lot.
