These are two amazing shows and thinking about one has made me
understand the other better several times now, so I hope you all enjoy!
Here we talk about Utena’s basic premise, Ruby and Sapphire, and Pink
Diamond-the Shadow cast over the story.

White Diamond is essentially upper middle class white woman version of The Condesce in this essay I

where s the rest of the essay OP

  • Both Overseeing Power
  • Both covered in a solid color/tint, only visible facial features is their eyes and mouth 
  • WD is v condescending, and the Condesce is well, you know.
  • WD treated Steven like he was merely throwing a temper tantrum as PD and basically was just letting them blow off steam, while Condy basically let Roxy escape jail and told her to ‘DWI’ when she wanted to go back. Both essentially letting their children do illegal shit and not doing anything bout it cus they wanna stay outta it.
  • Both are essentially moms (Batter Witch, White is self explanatory.) 
  • Awful moms.
  • Both have servants that are possibly controlled by them, or at least under their control (White Pearl, The Psiionic) 
  • Both dramatic and extra as fuck in appearance/aesthetic

That’s all off the top of my head its 2 AM feel free to add on u freaks.

Updates via some comments

  • Introduced via feet scene first
  • In charge of a vast, planet wide society in a hierarchy and with caste systems
  • Responsible for the mass destruction of their people (corrupted gems / killing the adult trolls) 
  • Both have a rebellion against them.

I only just realized that Pearl has built herself around layers of trauma, which is literally how pearls are created.

i fon’t remember pearl going through trauma unless you mean when that guy shook her hand and she said she was never going to wash it again and then bubble buddy touched it and washer it off?

Pearl from SU has gone through a ton of trauma, though. We literally see Steven dive into the layers of it in A Single Pale Rose. Losing Rose, experiencing a literal apocalypse that destroyed the minds of almost all the crystal gems she used to know, knowing hers was the hand that “shattered” Pink Diamond and CAUSED THAT APOCALYPSE, and not to mention being forced to lie about it all for millennia by the person she loved most in the world???

Pearl’s entire arc in the show has been about her processing her grief and trauma.

Attention SU fandom,

Former storyboarder and artist on the Crewniverse Jesse Zuke (Formerly known as Lauren Zuke when with the Crew) is currently facing severe financial troubles due to them not being able to work as an animator anymore due to serious mental ailments. They are currently facing eviction from the apartment at the risk of being homeless and without a job. Luckily, their gofundme page has already raised enough money to pay off one month. However, almost the entire fandom still is not aware of Zuke’s current situation. Let’s give them all the support and spread the awareness!

I could say a lot of things right now but in the end, this is just really fucking important.

The fandom should be ashamed of what they did to Zuke, regardless of your personal feelings towards their opinions and work they did not deserve what happened to them.

So maybe give back a little/share if you can, because we owe a lot of what Lapis, Peridot and just the show in general are today to them.

A talented human being who has gone through so much

Please help them as much as you can in their time of need
