A Kirby game by yoko taro

thebuttkingpost:

Ending A: Kirby stops the greedy king deedeedee from stealing food from the innocent citizens of dreamland!

Ending B: set after the events of ending A, an underground race of mole people burrows up from planet pop star and conquers the galaxy, time skip to 176,000 years later, Kirby has been transformed by his gluttony into a massive machine that consumes planets who an old and tired meta knight must slay. Joining him is a waddledee who expounds trivia about the digestive tract of a human being

Ending C: rather than destroying the planet eating Kirby, meta knight betrays the waddledee and joins his old friend and rival to consume the whole of the known universe. After being defeated by meta knight the waddledee’s final statement is “pancreas”. The final shot is Kirby heading towards a planet with the exact geography of A link to the past.

Ending D: meta knight enters kirby’s core and finds his original body still in tact. After fighting off various skyscraper sized “antibodies” meta knight manages to free Kirby from his gigantic shell. Seeing meta knight face to face in tens of thousands of years drives Kirby mad with guilt and he plunges himself into a wormhole to dimensions unknown.

Later it would be revealed in three novellas, an impromptu street performance and a roll of toilet paper that yoko taro wrote on that by entering the worm hole, Kirby traveled to a dimension outside of time where he eventually learns to manipulate historical events. He starts by destroying the progenitor of the mole people making it so that only the events of ending A occurred. Unfortunately in doing so, he wipes his current self from existence. His last thoughts before ceasing to be are a desire to see his friends again and to have a slice of cake. Afterwards the game deletes itself from the cartridge.

If you like games where ‘the protagonist gets to have a morally ambiguous relationship with an intersex trans woman’ you might want to check out NieR Gestalt/Replicant. That game is a fucking tragedy but it’s so good.

SURPRISE I am also a hardcore, longstanding Yoko Taro fan and have at least watched lets plays for every game he’s done back to drakengard. I really like @pixievalkyrie and clemp’s work on that franchise. I am still slowly, slooowly making my way through Nier: Automata but yeah Nier Gestalt/Replicant is amazing and maybe my favorite game in this franchise outside of Automata which is climbing fast.
